My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. –James 1:2-4 NKJV

Who loves being patient? Our human nature wants what it wants and wants it now. Our flesh prefers an easy life. Although we have seasons with smooth roads, many of life’s paths are laden with trials. Patience is necessary to successfully navigate our faith journey. It’s in the testing times that patience becomes our friend. In the Bible, patience is defined as the ability to remain constant and enduring—to persevere and continue in faith when what you believe is challenged. Patience is the “staying power” you need to remain loyal to what you know to be true during a difficult time. How do you exercise patience? First, you must know that you have patience inside you. When the Holy Spirit came in you at your rebirth, He brought Himself—Love. And Love is patient. You have Love in you, so you have patience as well. Choose to use it. Continue to believe. Let patience be your friend as the Holy Spirit walks you through to the end.
Ask Jesus to remind you that you have patience and ask His Spirit to help you exercise it.
Thank the Lord for helping you to endure through difficult times until you see His goodness in your situation.
