Walk His Way

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. -Ezekiel 36:26 NIV

If three people witness a crime, there will likely be three different descriptions of the perpetrator. What we perceive, and how we see it, passes through a filter that is forged from our past experiences in life. If we grew up being picked on or made fun of, we may approach life with an expectation of intimidation. We may see others as potential enemies, rather than as friends, adopting the fractured motto, “Do onto others before they have a chance to do unto us.”Who we are today is based upon inputs of a thousand yesterdays. An unkind word spoken by one who was supposed to love us, haunts us without us even realizing it. So, what can we do? What if we started looking at life through new eyes? What if we asked the Holy Spirit to heal the wounds left by careless words? Can God give us a new heart and new eyes to see life His way? YES! Just as the Lord promised the Israelites in Ezekiel 36:26 (NIV), God can take away our stony hearts, replacing them with His spirit. Ask the Lord for a new heart and walk in His ways.

prayer focuses

Father, please remove my hard heart and replace it with a heart that longs to follow You.

Lord, let me see others through new eyes that are filtered through You.
