Wait For The Lord

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. –Psalm 27:14 NIV

In the middle of a hot and humid Florida summer day, I waited in line for 240 minutes to get on a theme park ride. Do you believe God is also worth waiting a long time for?

The Hebrew word for “wait” means to look eagerly for something, to hope expectingly. God knows that when you are waiting on something, you will need to take courage. This means you need to be bold, alert, persistent, and strengthen yourself. When you wait for the Lord, scripture tells us that you inherit His promised blessing. You get deliverance. You get renewal of your strength. Is this worth 240 minutes of your time? How about a lifetime?

As Christians, waiting should be our mode of existence because Jesus lived this way. He demonstrated complete surrender to the Father and trusted that He has plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future (see Jeremiah 29:11). Jesus is our hope of renewal and rescue from this world of chaos and death. Therefore, no matter what battles we face, we can be confident that His goodness will prevail.

prayer focuses

Lord, transform my heart to see waiting as a beautiful gift from You.

Jesus, by your Holy Spirit, fill me with patience in the waiting, having the assurance that You are with me.
