The Plans We Make

Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. –Proverbs 19:21 NIV

By nature, we all like to take control of our own lives. We wake up in the morning ready with the agenda for the day. Plans are made far in advance to ensure that everything turns out “perfectly.” It is not that planning is a bad idea. However, when we make plans that impact our own lives as well as the lives of our loved ones, we need to rest on God and wait patiently for His guidance. Often, we exhaust ourselves with so much planning that we lose sight of the One who keeps us in His hands and shelter. Why not commit those plans to the Lord? Proverbs 16:3 (NLT) says, “Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.” Our heavenly Father knows our every need, and if we put our trust in Him, He will meet each need. “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you…” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV).These are promises that will not be broken. We serve a faithful God who never forsakes us in our time of need. We ought not to fret; but just surrender whatever plans we have right now to Him and watch how those plans succeed in the most amazing ways.

prayer focuses

Father, help me to learn how to become totally dependent on You.

Holy Spirit, purge me of the spirit of fear, anxiety, and worry. Help me to be still and wait on You in every need.
