The Great Strength of God

Unless the Lord had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death. –Psalm 94:17 NIV

Adversities are defined as difficulties or misfortunes. What adversities are you facing now? What past troubles have you had in your life? Adversity will come to you at some point in your life simply because you live in a fallen world. Charles Spurgeon provided a wonderful description of how God will rescue you from the adversities you may face in life. He said, “Great tribulations bring out the great strength of God. If you never feel inward conflicts and sinking of the soul, you do not know much of the upholding power of God…. Oh, there must be the weakness of man, felt, recognized and mourned over, or else the strength of the Son of God will never be perfected in us.” You must experience adversities in order to catch a glimpse of the awesome power of God. It is precisely in moments of trouble that God shows up and moves in great ways. When you are facing a trial in your life, turn to God by reading His Word, spending time in prayer and worship, and seeking counsel from other believers. By doing this, you give God the opportunity to show you His unconditional love, unending forgiveness, and unlimited grace.
