You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. –1 John 4:4 NIV

Life is filled with many peaks and valleys through which we must travel. We all will inevitably experience highs and lows—blessings and sorrows. But, as we journey through the joy and pain, we must remember that no matter what takes place on earth, it pales in comparison to what awaits us in Heaven. Our true home lies elsewhere. Jesus has gone ahead to prepare a place for us. A better world awaits, much greater than what we are experiencing now.
As the apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NLT), “For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So, we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” Whatever we may face today is temporary. As we walk through life, we must remember to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. He is with us, He is for us, and He loves us. He is our Strength, our Fortress, our Deliverer, and our Restorer. In Him, we trust.
Father God, help me to remember that this world is not my home.
Thank You, Lord, for being a loving Father who walks beside me through both the peaks and the valleys.
