You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. –Psalm 86:5 NIV
You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. –Psalm 86:5 NIV
After His resurrection, Jesus appears to Peter and the other disciples once again. The disciples were fishing but had not caught a single fish. From the shore, a man, unrecognizable to them, directed the disciples to throw their nets on the other side of the boat. When they did, they caught more fish than they could haul into their boat and realized that the man on the shore was Jesus. When they reached the shore, Jesus was waiting there to greet them and share a meal with them. After they ate, Jesus looked at Peter and asked him three times, “Do you love me, Peter?” Each time Peter answered yes. Peter had to have felt a sense of failure for denying Jesus three times before His crucifixion, but Jesus saw past this and saw Peter’s heart. Three times Peter denied Him, and three times Jesus asked Peter about his love. Jesus forgave Peter and gave him a mission to tend and care for believers. Peter’s slate was wiped clean. Jesus will do the same for us! Jesus will forgive and bless us even if we fail Him countless times.
Thank You, Father, for making all things new and erasing my past!
Jesus, thank You for redeeming me and setting me free from the bond of sin.
