Seek Forgiveness

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. –1 John 1:9 NIV

In the Bible, there are stories about heroes, villains, kings, and beggars—with which we can all relate. There are also stories about some women whose mistakes can help us to avoid a fall. Eve, Potiphar’s wife, Lot’s wife, the woman at the well, Delilah, Sapphira, Rahab, and Jezebel each had quite a story. Some were bad for a moment, while others were living in sin through and through. Yet, most of them weren’t much different from any of us. Romans 3:23 (NIV) says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Few people want to be known as sinners. Aren’t we always told as children to be good and obey? The simple truth is that we constantly fall short and are in need of a savior. In Christ, we can receive complete and total forgiveness of our past and present sins. Our sin in the past doesn’t determine our identity today. Christ makes all things new. In Him, we are given a new heart, and we receive His identity. Transformation begins when God’s love steps in.
