Perfect Vision

…What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”—the things God has prepared for those who love him. –1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV

Have you ever talked with someone who no matter what you say they always have a negative response? If you profess it’s a beautiful day, they reply, “Looks like rain to me.” By the time you end your conversation, you’re exhausted from trying to inflate their flat balloon. You keep injecting positivity, but it goes in one ear and out the other. Don’t you wish there were a pair of glasses they could wear revealing how wonderful life really is? Well, maybe there is.When we look at life through the world’s eyes, it can be a pretty dismal sight. The news is nothing but gloom, doom, and despair. However, when we look at life through God’s eyes, we see hope, joy, and peace. Matthew 6:22 (ESV) says, “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light.”Let’s ask God to open our eyes to see how He wants us to see. “Open my eyes that I may behold wondrous things out of your law” (Psalm 119:18 ESV). When we put on Christ, nothing defeats us. When we see through His eyes, we find hope. When we see life through the lens of His Word, we have perfect vision.

prayer focuses

Lord, help me not listen to bad reports; instead, focus on Your truth.

I refuse to let the world’s despair infect my soul. Lord, even when it’s hard to see past all the gloom, I will go to Your Word and find Your promises for my situation. You are always with me!
