Never a Failure

And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” –Luke 23:42-43 ESV

Was there ever a time in life when you went after your goals with unstoppable faith? Did something then happen that discouraged you so much that you felt like giving up on those goals? Are you living your life in the shadow of past failures or in the light of future potential? Has your ability to fail made you feel like a failure? We can choose to see life through eyes of condemnation and shame, or we can live life in Christ—forgiven and redeemed. We can live life forgiving those who’ve wronged us, or we can let ourselves be consumed with bitterness and revenge. The God of mercy and grace gives you that freedom to choose. The story of the two thieves on the Cross in Luke 23:39-43 is an excellent example of these two choices. One man being crucified was mocking Jesus, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other thief rebuked him and confessed that they both deserved what they were getting. Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus promised this second thief that he would be with Him in paradise. The man’s past didn’t determine his future, and neither does yours. You’re never a failure to God.

prayer focuses

Ask God to help you take every thought captive and cast down every thought that tries to condemn you.

You’re forgiven in Christ, so live like it. Father, thank You that failing doesn’t make me a failure; it only makes me human. I want to repent of my past and move past it.
