God's Unconditional Love

We love because he first loved us. –1 John 4:19 NIV

Saying the words “I love you” is easy. But how many people do you love so deeply that you expect nothing from them in return? True love is unselfish and unending. This love is unmerited because it is not deserved. It is unconditional—not based on actions. It is supernatural, not something that can be done in one’s own strength. God loves you so much. Even knowing that you would turn away and very possibly never return His love, He still sent His one and only Son to die for you. Once you accept and internalize this concept of love, you can grow into the person God created you to be. You accomplish this by allowing the Holy Spirit to work in you, relying on the Word of God. This unconditional love, when understood and permanently etched on your heart, will inspire you to respond to others without expectations, reflecting the way that God loves you.
