If someone dies, will they live again? –Job 14:14 NIV
The question (from the verse above) posed by Job in the depths of his suffering is far from unique. People everywhere have wondered about the same thing: Is death the end? Or is there something beyond? While philosophers offer their “solution” to the puzzle of life after death, only Christ’s words, punctuated by action, deliver the definitive statement on what happens after a believer dies.Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one who believes in Me will live even, if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die...” (John 11:25-26 NASB). Then He underscored this profound claim by calling Lazarus, a dead man, out of his tomb, testifying that He possesses power over physical and spiritual life. As astonishing as was this miracle, an even greater one occurred when Jesus, Himself, died and then walked out of His own tomb three days later.Christ triumphed over the ultimate enemy, death. Through belief in His work on the Cross, we are offered life that extends beyond the grave. The guaranteed promise of resurrection to eternal life can be ours the moment we choose to believe (Romans 10:9-10; 1 Corinthians 15:55-57). As we celebrate Easter today, let us remember this beautiful promise!
Jesus, I believe that You are the resurrection and life.
Forgive me for my sin; and by faith, I accept You as my Savior. God, steady my faith when I doubt. Remind me of Your faithfulness and the promise of eternal life through Christ.
