The story of David has been recounted countless times throughout the world—an impressive story about how a young youth slew the giant Goliath. In every sense of the word Goliath was a giant—as a warrior, in meanness, but most of all, in stature. He was “six cubits and a span” (1 Samuel 17:4), which is estimated to be nine feet, nine inches tall. To David though, he might as well have been three feet tall because David did not care. It mattered not to him what Goliath looked like, his history as a warrior, or battles he had won. All David knew was that Goliath had defied the God of Israel and cursed the name of the God Most High, and he would have none of that! David went into battle with the Lord of hosts, Jehovah Tsebaoth, by his side. There was no doubt in David’s mind that he was going to defeat Goliath. What giant are you facing today in your own life? My dear friend, in the same manner as David, take courage that the Lord of hosts is going into battle with you. Lift up your shield, draw your sword, march forward into battle with Jehovah Tsebaoth, and smite your “giant” in the name of Jesus your King. Remember, you are more than a conqueror through Jesus’ name (Romans 8:37). Hallelujah and amen!
