He’s Already There

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. – Zephaniah 3:17 ESV

When we’re facing a difficult problem, financial crisis, or health issue, we often wait on God to show up and deliver us from our woes. We pray, and even tell others we’re waiting on God. There’s just one problem with that mindset—He’s already there. When the Magi and the shepherds finally found the manger with the Babe, Jesus was already there. When Mary ran to the tomb after Jesus’ crucifixion, He had already risen from the dead. He was already there. When the disciples went fishing all night after His crucifixion and caught nothing, Jesus was waiting for them on shore cooking breakfast. He was already there. When a Samaritan woman went to the well late in the day to avoid contact with those who looked down on her, she met Jesus. He was already there. When the prodigal son returned home after squandering his inheritance, his father welcomed him with open arms. He was already there. We don’t have to wait for Jesus to show up. He’s already there. Praise God, He is always there!
