Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits. –Psalm 103:2 NIV
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits. –Psalm 103:2 NIV
What concerns you today? Health? Work? Relationships? Are you thinking about a tragedy in your family or something troublesome half a world away? Often, issues cloud your perspective, causing you to focus on what you don’t have and forget completely about what you do have. You can list all the positive things that fill your life like family, a job, food on the table, or a place to live. And while those are certainly blessings that you shouldn’t take for granted, each can disappear in an instant. However, God doesn’t want you to anchor your worship on receiving things, but on your relationship with Him.This Thanksgiving, adopt the attitude of King David and use today as an opportunity to lift your eyes to the Lord. Instead of being overwhelmed and consumed with the discouragements of this life, meditate on the first five verses of Psalm 103. Remind yourself of your eternal blessings…ones that through Christ are yours now and can never be taken away.
God, remind me of who I am in You and what You so bountifully fill my life with by Your grace.
Lord, help me be grateful every day for what I have through the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ.
