Enter His Rest

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. –Matthew 11:28 ESV

The year 2020 handed us one blow after another. Fear was rampant, depression overwhelming, and uncertainty was ever present. However, God was and is still on His throne. He’s wasn’t and still isn’t wringing His hands while holding a staff meeting with the angels predicting defeat. He’s Jehovah-Jireh, our Provider, the God who looks ahead and makes provision. God is not walking the floors of Heaven at night trying to find a solution, for He is Jehovah-Shalom, the God of peace. God is not fearful or depressed about how things are, for He’s El-Shaddai, the all-sufficient one. God never forgets about us or abandons us, for He is El-Roi, the God who sees us. God is Abba, who loves and cares for His children always. He is not shaken or surprised by what happens on earth. He knows exactly what was and is going to happen. Because He is for us, no one can be against us and win. God is always victorious for those who believe. Jesus says it all in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

prayer focuses

When fear, depression, and anxiety come to steal your peace, don’t listen! Listen to God, for He brings peace, comfort, and joy.

When fear comes, resist it. When anxiety comes, rebuke it. When depression comes, sing praises. Refuse to be defeated.
