Blessed Assurance

The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” –Exodus 33:14 NIV

As Moses was leading the Israelites through the desert toward the land that the Lord had promised to them, God became fed up with their disobedience. He was about to send them off without His Presence. But Moses interceded for his people, and God replied to him, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name” (Exodus 33:17 NIV). “My Presence will go with you and I will give you rest.” (Exodus 33:14 NIV). In the same manner, when we are disobedient and we lose our way, Jesus intercedes for us before the throne of His Father. When we fail in our weaknesses, we need not fear that we are condemned because we have the blessed assurance in Jesus Christ our King, our Lord, and our Savior. We can rest in the blessed assurance that God’s Presence will go wherever we go, and He will give us rest.
