Agreement Power

Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. –Matthew 18:19-20 NIV

Matthew 18:19-20 is commonly used in the Church when praying with others. We all know that there is power in agreement. In Genesis 11:6 we read, “The Lord said, ‘If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.’”The Tower of Babel was the ultimate example of what can happen when people come together in agreement. The Lord said the people would be unstoppable and think themselves better than everyone else unless He divided them. So, God confused their language so that they couldn’t understand one another. Without unity, they were useless.Did you know that there’s another kind of unity, an agreement that we all participate in without even realizing it? If agreement is used for good, it can move mountains. However, when it’s used for the wrong purpose, as in the Tower of Babel, it can cause great harm. When we’re together with friends and a negative comment is made, whether about another person or a situation, and we commiserate or agree, aren’t we perpetuating the problem? Isn’t that using agreement for a wrong purpose? Problems won’t improve if we are constantly agreeing that life is dire. Let’s agree in unity for good instead.

prayer focuses

Ask your heavenly Father to show you areas where you’re not standing in agreement with His Word.

Refuse to let your words hinder you. Listen, pray, then speak. Agree with the good, and negate the bad. Align with faith and starve fear. Be in agreement with God.
