A Song In My Heart

It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name O most High. –Psalm 92:1 NKJV

The heart of God is filled with joy whenever His children praise Him with their whole hearts. After all, we were created for these purposes: To worship Him “in spirit and truth” (John 4:24 NKJV) and “to give thanks in all circumstances” (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV). Psalm 92: 2 (NKJV) reminds us to declare His lovingkindness in the morning and His faithfulness every night. During the day, as we go to and from work, school, and errands, the Lord our God is with us. We don’t physically see Him, but He is there! Psalm 91:3-4 (NKJV) tells us He delivers us “from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.” He covers us “with His feathers” and keeps us “under His wings.” Our Lord and protector never loses sight of us, for we are “the apple of His eye” (Zachariah 2:8). Let us declare during the day—with certainty—His lovingkindness in protecting and watching over us. And at night, let’s give Him thanks for His faithfulness throughout our day. Let there be a new song in our hearts for His daily safekeeping.

prayer focuses

Holy Spirit, help me to acknowledge and never forget Your kindness and faithfulness each day.

Lord God, help me to trust You in a deeper, more profound way as I go through difficult times during my day.
