A New Resolution

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. –John 3:16 NIV

Thinking back to the beginning of this year, did you make a New Year’s resolution to perhaps better yourself? If you have, are you still abiding by it? About 90 percent of Americans break their resolutions by the end of January. We start with great resolve, but life often derails our good intentions and spoils our best-laid plans. The Bible offers a perfect example of an unbroken promise, the New Covenant. When God the Father sent His only Son to die on the Cross, He resolved that whoever put their faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior would not die but would live forever. If you have broken your New Year’s promise, take comfort in knowing that God will never break His. The New Covenant that He made with us is unchanging and eternally sealed in the blood of Christ. If you have never accepted God’s invitation to be part of the New Covenant, it is not too late. You simply need to confess your sins to Jesus and ask Him to forgive you of those sins. Invite Him into your heart to be the Lord of your life and the Savior of your soul. God will keep His promise, so that you may have eternal life.
